For the twelfth
consecutive year, the Office of the Commissioner for Children organised its
annual children’s rights live-in ‘Rights 4U’ with the support of the HSBC Malta
Foundation. This live-in was held between the 4th and the 6th
of August at Dar Manresa, Victoria, Gozo.
The Hon. Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, Dr Michael
Farrugia, Ms Pauline Miceli, Commissioner for Children
and a Representative from the HSBC Malta Foundation visited the participants and engaged in discussions with them.
The Rights 4U
live-in consists of an interactive programme which includes various activities
in which the young people not only learn about their rights, but also actively
explore and engage in discussions on their rights. The participants develop
critical thinking skills, build social ties and implement concepts such as
respect, responsibility and inclusion.
The theme for
this year’s live-in was that of empowering young people to engage in healthy
relationships with their peers. Various professionals carried out
interactive sessions addressing different aspect of relationtionships.
